For Olugbenga Agboola, there has been a lot to learn to be able to innovate in the financial services sphere. He spent many years on his education, getting a bachelor’s in business administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and getting multiple IT certifications. He also earned himself a degree in project management and advanced computing from a university in the U.K. He later earned his master’s degree in the challenging curriculum of IT security and behavioral engineering. Even after his master’s degree, he has continued to attend programs and learn more of the skills needed for success in finance, IT, and leadership. He has had big dreams of success and has gotten there by continuing to learn and to innovate.
Fintech Experience
Originally from the city of Lagos in Nigeria, Olugbenga Agboola has made a big impact on business both in the U.S. and in Africa. He worked for a number of financial companies before co-founding his own company. He worked as an application engineer for several years at PayPal. He later worked for Standard Bank, as a manager of transactional product development. During this time, he also was sure to enter important leadership programs to help him better develop his skills along the way. He took programs from Developing a Leading Edge Operations Strategy to Essential IT for Non-IT Executives to help him better understand the industry and what it needed.
Olugbenga Agboola joined Standard Bank Nigeria and worked as both a project manager and a product developer. With his move to Sterling Bank, he learned much about the mobile financial sector as the head of mobile finance services. He continued to work in other capacities in the banking industry and became the senior entrepreneur in residence in the prestigious Africa Fintech Foundry. He continues today to work as an entrepreneur with the Royal Bank of Scotland. His many years of experience in finance and fintech have made him perfect for launching a new business in the sector, and that’s what he did.
Olugbenga Agboola and Flutterwave
As a co-founder of Flutterwave, Olugbenga Agboola was able to bring a wealth of education and experience to his new role. He began at the company as its chief technology officer. Later, in 2018, he stepped in to become the CEO of Flutterwave. He has since led the company to a great deal of success and through major funding initiatives in order to expand the company and bring it to more companies.
